RELIANCE INSURANCE COMPANY (PENNSYLVANIA) 

Date of Liquidation:  October 3, 2001

Brief Summary: 

Reliance Insurance Company wrote primarily property and casualty business.  This type of business is not covered by the Guaranty Association Act, but may be covered by the Nebraska Property and Liability Guaranty Association.  It did, however, write some health policies that may be covered by the Guaranty Association Act.  When Reliance was placed in liquidation, the liquidation order cancelled certain policies.  Some policies were co-insured by Combined Insurance Company of America.  Administration of all health policies not co-insured by Combined Insurance of America and still in effect continue to be serviced by the third party administrator that serviced the policies before the Reliance liquidation order.
